News:
- On 24.04.2025 I will give a short talk „What is Memory?“ at the Symposium on Change and Memory in Complex Systems in Tampere, FI.
- At 9.02.2025, 14:00 I will be part of Umweltsonntag @ nGbK, Berlin, a conversation within the artistic-curatorial research project SALT.CLAY.ROCK. On Nuclear Pasts and Radiant Futures
2024
- More than 100 People joined the Symposium in celebration of the 100th Birthday of the Paleontologist Björn Kurtén in Helsinki. I was invited to talk about Finnish fossils.
- Related to the memory topic is ageing. At this years Palaeontological Association Annual Meeting in December in Erlangen, Germany, I am happy to have been selected as a speaker, title: „Do ecological communities age?„
- Memory will come into focus in my work in the next months. In December I will give a lecture at the Institute of Ethnology at Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan, Poland. Title: „The memory of a lake (Ecological memory and the layers of time)“
- In this 5 min radio-story, sent at Deutschlandfunk in April I talk (in German) about Lake Stechlin
- in August I will present @ World Congress on Environmental History in Oulu about „The primeval lake of tomorrow.“
- in June I was happy to be selected as Rewilding Cultures Mobility grantee. This will be a spark for my collaboration with UAM Poznan based anthropologist Małgorzata Z. Kowalska on stonewort
- in Mai I was invited by Aga Pokrywka to talk about deep time @ Ferment Radio. The podcast can be listened here.
- in April I will present at the Politics of The Machines Conference in Aachen, Germany, about the „Lake Stechlin – Lake Machine„
2023
- in December the HAT-Group will organize in Turku, Finland, a symposium on patterns of change in complex systems. I will give a presentation about „The deep time of death.“
- in October I will give a presentation about temporalities / layers of time at Lake Stechlin at a workshop at Stechlin Institute, Germany
- in July I will give a talk about biodiversity evolution in ancient reefs at ISOS 14 conference in Tallinn
- in July I will led an expedition to the Kilpisjärvi-Halti area, Finnish Lapland, to collect Ediacaran-Cambrian trace fossils
- in May I will guide a one week student palaeontology excursion to Estonia
- in March I will participate in the kickoff meeting of the ANR-project Ecoboost in Lyon, FR
